Hi everyone Freddie Monroe here, the Hands Across the Sand is a great idea and possibly an event that could get people to support clean energy, end offshore drilling, support our brothers, sisters in the gulf region and the need to protect our environment. I hope we stay active and pull people out for 10-10-10 to support bring our CO2 levels down to 350ppm which is at 393ppm and climbing. www.350.org. Our future and that of our children is on the line. We get this right, IF NOT our lives and that of our children as we know it will be over.

My name is Anne Rhoden, and I represent SeaBabes Apparel. My company is hosting the "Hands" event in St. Augustine. We want to make this huge!! Our local officials are backing us 100%. We originally just wanted to participate, but when we found out no one was doing it here in St. Augustine, we had to pick up the ball and run with it, it truly is an honor to be involved in such an important event!!

Freddie - I love how you think - your goal is my goal. Using this event (and several others we have planned in Palm Beach County Florida) as the jumping off point for building a strong series of 10-10-10 events in communities throughout our county. At this point, we have 13 organizations involved in the coalition of planners for our Hands Across the Sand gathering in Lake Worth, Florida. Those 13 represent traditional environmental groups, grassroots political groups, educational institutions, social justice groups, and human rights groups. We hope to make it huge!

Hi I am Sally Johnson. I live in Gainesville, Florida 1 hour away from me is a the quaint fishing village, Cedar Key with a population of 1000 people. Most of the people here make a living on the water. In fact 80% of the nation's clam farming takes place in Cedar Key. This little village could suffer considerable damage if the oil spill hits their beach. That is why I chose that little beach to help the residents and bring attention to one of my favorite places to hang out on a week end. We also are feeling the excitement of involvement. People are looking for a way to help. With a show of large gatherings on the beaches we will make a difference.

Hello everyone, I am Sean and I live on Manasota Key in Englewood, FL. The enviroment is a very important topic for me. I soak in Mother Nature's beauty daily and I am VERY thankful for every minute of it. I am so happy to see this website.
I have printed 300 flyers and had 20 posters made with the pdf files located on Hands Across America's Facebook page. I have put up all my posters in local restaurants and businesses with great success. The flyers I am putting on windshields of cars all over town.

I do need to know if anyone has had luck with their local press running a ad or story of this event? If so, do you facilitate?

I am quite excited and I do hope I get a great turnout. Does anyone have any other ideas to make this a success?

Thanks!!

Gad to see all of you involved in this and sharing. My name is Mary and I live on the western shore of Lake Michigan. We will be gathering at Illinois Beach State Park in Zion, IL.
So far I have done the following, sent a personal message to each "friend" asking them to post. Then two days later posted on their site with all my infol These young people especially have more than 400 friends each, and each time you post on their page, it goes to all who are their friends.
I printed over 100 posters using the jpg's provided, also used my flyer for t - shirts, am looking at that as a donation. I took the posters to little league games where there were alot of young families and passed them out.
I sent a news releases to the local papers, even the weeklies, so far no interest. I have called in on the local radio station, not bad response.
I have also sent the press release to all the local environmental groups like Sierra and Audabon Soc., and to our "friends of the beach".
I have posted a message each day with an update and made sure I made a comment welcoming people each time I saw one of my "friends" posts.
I am planning on meeting with the park ranges and the police to make sure I have all the bases covered.
If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them
Your friend on the sand...

I, Mary Ellen Pearson, have decided a date for mid to late July. I am making arrangements with the beach tomorrow, I will set the date and time for a Saturday morning about 9:00 A.M. if I can or a Sunday afternoon at about 1:30P.M. I need you to e-mail me as a possible participant. Also I need money for ink and paper for as many hand outs as we need. I can make them really nice and profitable for our Care Of Mother Earth Organizations of which there are many. Also if you are craft and can make a large to medium banner or poster let me know. I will post the beach, address, time, date, tomorrow!~!~!
